- The names of all nominees who are not selected for induction after voting is completed will be automatically placed on the Final Ballot for a maximum of the next three Hall of Fame selections (a total of four Final Ballots). If a nominee fails to be inducted after their fourth consecutive time on the Final Ballot, their name will be eliminated from further consideration unless future additional research reveals significant information or additional accomplishments not previously known to the committee.
Candidates for Exceptional Service Award
The Exceptional Service Award was established in 2024 by the Hall of Fame committee in honor of those who served as a long-time volunteer within the Department of Athletics for many years.
Each induction year the hall of fame will honor a(n) individual(s) who have demonstrated a significant loyalty and commitment to the Ridgefield athletics program as exemplified by Tiger Hollow with the Exceptional Service Award
Exceptional Service Award recipients can be, but will not be limited to, supporters, parents, athletes, coaches, managers, athletic trainers, publicists, statisticians or administrators.
No fewer than three (3) nominees will be selected for Exceptional Service Award Final Ballot. Voting will take place by ranked ballot at the official Hall of Fame Voting Meeting. Committee members will rank the top three (3) Exceptional Service Award nominees. First place votes are worth 3 points, second place votes are worth 2 points and third place votes are worth 1 point. The nominee with the most total points will receive the Exceptional Service Award. Absentee votes will only be accepted and approved by the committee under extenuating circumstances.
If there is a tie for most points, the nominee with the most first place votes will receive the Exceptional Service Award. If still tied, the nominee with the most second place votes will receive the Exceptional Service Award. If still tied, the committee will take into account the length of service of each nominee and come to a majority (5) decision.
All candidates from the Exceptional Service Award Final Ballot will automatically be renewed on the Final ballot for future consideration. A candidate may be removed from further consideration by a majority vote of the committee at any committee meeting.
Nominations & Voting
NOMINATIONS
Nominations may be submitted on forms available on Tiger Hollow website no later than February 1st of an induction year. Publicity regarding nominations and requests for nominations will be made public via the website, alumni publications, local newspapers, and various forms of social media and at the Induction Ceremony.
VOTING
Voting will be completed by committee members at the annually designated Voting Meeting in the beginning of June.
Each member of the committee will have one vote. Voting will be by ballot at the annual Voting Meeting.
Nominees must receive at least 80% of the votes to be elected. There must be a minimum of six (6) committee members in the room for the voting to be official.
On all rounds of voting, voters will have as many votes as there are positions to be filled to attain the six (6) Hall of Fame inductees (e.g., voters will have five (5) votes on the first ballot; if two nominees receive 80% of the votes, voters will then have three (3) votes on the second ballot.
Nominees receiving 0 or 1 vote on the first ballot will be eliminated from succeeding ballots. On succeeding ballots, names may be eliminated by a majority vote of “non-support”.
If after four consecutive rounds of voting in which no remaining nominee has received the number of votes necessary for induction, the following tie-breaking procedure will be implemented to choose the remaining (candidate(s)).
If there is a tie after this third round of voting, the tie will be broken by:
- Adding up the total number of votes the candidates have received in all rounds of voting. The nominee with the most total votes will be included in the current induction class. If still tied,
- The nominee with the most first round votes will be included in the current induction class. If still tied,
- The candidate with the earliest years of participation will be added into the current induction class.
The Voting Meeting will take place on a date and at a time when all committee members have committed to be present. It is imperative all committee members be in the room where voting will take place. A quorum of the committee must be in the room in order to have formal voting (quorum = 6). If a situation arises in which a committee member cannot attend the Voting Meeting, they will be expected to join in the meeting by cell phone (voice, facetime, skype) so that they will be able to take part in the round-by-round voting and the vital discussion that takes place in between rounds.
